Design & Creative

It’s been awhile, right? I don’t even know where to start. Where have we been these past 3 months, you ask? Just livin’ life I suppose.

I won’t try to remember everything that has happened since we last posted.

Christmas has come and gone. I have presents to post about. The gifts weren’t too elaborate this year. Since Q was born my productivity on the crafting front has dropped significantly. But I did manage a couple cute things. This was also the first year that our gift wrapping has been sub-par. Usually, I like to do the wrapping all fancy-like because I think it makes opening the gift even more exciting. But this year nothing fancy, just store-bought paper. Not even nicely wrapped, I have to admit. Christmas really snuck up on us this year.

I guess the biggest thing to happen was that I lost my job at the end of November. But, don’t worry I’ve found a new one.

Also, Q’s first birthday is fast approaching! So, lately I’ve been trying to plan his party. I’ve been torn between theme or no-theme and whether we should go all out and make it a big event or just keep it small and intimate. Decisions, decisions…

Here are a couple images that have been inspiring my birthday planning:

I wish I could remember where I found these photos, but I think I searched “lots of balloons and streamers” in google images. Pretty general, I know.

Last week I wrote about the new blog that I have been contributing to, wiseUP and the “10 to Change” challenge. Today, my post is up about my “10 to Change” idea. Here is the link to the entire blog where you can read other people’s “10 to Change” ideas as well as other inspirational posts. And here is a link directly to my post.

Enjoy!

I’ve been noticing that images that I’ve been posting recently will disappear. And to get them to show, I have to re-publish the post. I’m trying to figure out how to fix it and hopefully it won’t be an issue for much longer.

I apologize if you had problems viewing the site this morning! I forgot to change it back to “public” last night.

I love this photo. It was originally published in the December 1955 issue of House & Garden. You can buy a print of this Richard Rutledge photo (and many others) directly from Condé Nast here.

Winter

Is anyone else ready for winter to be done? In the past, I’ve never actually minded winter that much. But this year both Andrew and I agree that winter has worn out its welcome. The cold and snow is really getting on my nerves. Personally, I think winter should officially end the day after Christmas. Or we can draw it out to the New Year, IF necessary. I’m tired of being cold and I’m tired of having anxiety driving to work. Sorry, I just had to vent there for a second. I’ll just dream of the time when our porch looked like this:

And not this:

One more for now

Since I didn’t get to doing a full post on Christmas presents like I had planned, I figure I’d at least show you a couple photos to get you in the spirit. A couple years ago, I got really into these colored ribbons. Half the photos I took were just of the wrapping, I was so smitten. So here are the wrappings, you’ll have to check back later to see the innards. A little Christmas anticipation already!

Fondly,
Crystal

We’ve been having some technical difficulties over here at yes, have some. I noticed that email updates haven’t been going out and I did some searching to figure out why. I think I may have figured out the problem (which had to do with trying to publish our blog to a domain name rather than just to the regular “.blogspot.com” site.) I know not what i’m doing, so i’m hoping that it’s fixed. I’ll have to look into it some more.

New pictures to come…

Camera Fix

This proved to be the week of cameras for me. My digital camera finally bit the big one. I take it almost everywhere so it had a good run. A couple weekends ago, I brought it to the beach and true to it’s nature, the sand found its way into the camera and caused the camera to make very scary sounds. In the end, the lens just refused to focus on anything. So, that was that. I insisted on getting a new camera as soon as possible due to our trip to Ohio. Too many babies around to not have a camera.

The camera that broke was the Canon Powershot SD300, and I loved loved it.

My replacement camera is the Canon Powershot SD750 and it’s super-fance, but I still have yet to have any real bonding time with it. To be honest, I like the SD300 better but i’m also bad with letting go. I’m sure on many levels my new camera is better and takes infinitely “better” photos, but I just can’t stop comparing them and saying (slightly under my breath) “I like my old camera better.” Ah, ’tis life. This is the new fancy camera:

Also ANOTHER camera story. When I was in college at Parsons, I took a Photography studio class and for an in-class assignment the teacher gave everyone an old Polaroid Land Camera and told us to buy film and walk around the city and take photos. It was a great time and who doesn’t love polaroids? Land Cameras are pretty common, being that they were the standard back in the day, so everytime I go thrifting I come across them. A few years back, I finally bought one at a Salvation Army. It was in good shape and still had it’s carrying case with all the original manuals and whatnot. They still make film that works with this type of camera, but unfortunately a lot of the types of batteries these cameras take, are not standard. So to make a long story not as long, I found a place online that broke down each model of Land Camera and what batteries it takes and what film you can use. Finally, I’ll be able to put this baby to use:

I’ll post photos as soon as I get the film and batteries in the mail!
